To find the real Crete, just look for it today on a tour of discovery. You'll experience the best of the West and see some of the country. Highlights include the Monastery of Agia Triada, the Allied war cemetery at Souda Bay, and the archaeological site of Aptera, where you'll learn about the ancient Minoan way of life. Yiannis, one of our knowledgeable local guides, said: "The ruins of Aptera are special because of their location. The ruins of the ancient city are located on top of a hill with views of the White Mountains, the Cretan Sea and Akrotiri Stunning views of the peninsula.
We will start with a photo stop at Prophet Elias Mountain, famous for its views of Chania and White Mountains. The hill is also home to the Necropolis of Venizelos, a monument dedicated to Greek Prime Minister Eleftherios and Sophocles, who were born in Crete. Next is the Monastery of Agia Triada, nestled in a hill full of olive groves and vineyards. The abbey was built in the 17th century and has fantastic Renaissance architecture and historical significance. The museum houses valuable coins and manuscripts.
We'll stop to pay our respects at the Souda Bay War Cemetery, the final resting place of 1,500 Allied soldiers, before heading to Aputra, once a great economic and cultural center of Minoan Crete. Here, you'll have the chance to walk among the ruins and admire ancient structures such as Roman cisterns, Hellenistic temples and Venetian fortresses. The tour also includes typical Cretan snacks and drinks.

Spinalonga Tourist Tickets
The small island of Spinalonga is just a few steps away from Crete, but visiting it feels like taking a giant step back in time. You'll find centuries of history within the walls that surround the island. Spinalonga is just a 25-minute boat ride from Elounda. Upon arrival, you are immediately captivated by the ancient history of this island, no more than 435 meters long and 230 meters wide. Over the years, Spinalonga has been a Venetian watchtower, an Ottoman tower and a leper colony. For the latter, the island is also known as the "Island of Tears". Take a guided tour of the Venetian Fortress and a leper colony that was disbanded in the 1950s. Strolling along the main street where shops and houses remind you of lepers trying to live the lives of normal people. Also check hospitals and cemeteries. After a fascinating and emotional visit, re-board and sail back to Elounda.
