destination information

Ahmedala

To the west of Heraklion is the city of Ahmedala. This summer resort is characterized by clean and natural beaches equipped with all the necessary services such as hammocks, beach bars, nearby restaurants, etc. Most accommodations are located near the water and offer all possible comforts. In the town of Ammodar, there is a water park called Bravo where you are welcome to take a dip. Proximity to beaches in other settlements is an added advantage that offers diversity. It is about 70 kilometers away from the airport.

Agia Pelagia

The seaside town of Agia Pelagia lies almost in the middle of the northern coast of Crete. The city is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world because of its well-maintained beaches, beautiful sea and infrastructure. There are many taverns and shops on the waterfront. The range of water sports and leisure activities is relatively wide. The most striking thing about Agia Pelagia is that it is an ideal area for diving. Despite growing tourist interest, the place has retained a charming and peaceful character. The distance from the airport is about 27 kilometers.

amniotic fluid

About 9 kilometers east of Heraklion is the historic city of Amnissos, where Odysseus is said to have stopped before crossing the island of Ithaca. The beautiful sandy beaches attract locals and tourists alike. Relax in the azure sea and swim in a postcard-like atmosphere. There are many bars, taverns and shops close to the beach and the center of Amnissos. It is about 5 kilometers from the airport.

Gouves

The municipal district of Gouves is located on the north coast of Crete. It is a city that has been expanding over the decades, and today stretches inland from the old city center to the coast of Kato Gouves City. For tourists, this means variety, a well-developed resort that has it all. Whether you're hiking inland or playing on pristine beaches, there's something for everyone. The offer includes numerous taverns, shops and shops. It is about 15 kilometers from the airport.

Cusonari

In the east of Crete is the small town of Koutsounari. Holiday guests will find one of the most important things here: calm and relaxation. Long Beach is made up of very fine pebbles and is mostly inaccessible. It slopes gently down into the beautiful clear turquoise sea, so it's perfect for a beach holiday. Koutsounari has a very limited choice of restaurants and shops. Therefore, the existing taverns and shops all the more await their guests, offering a warm welcome to holiday guests. Around the village there are many hiking trails leading through beautiful nature to various gorges. It is about 102 kilometers away from the airport.

Heraklion

The historic seaside city of Heraklion, the capital of Crete, is located on the northern coast. It is especially interesting for tourists interested in history, but thanks to the nearby beaches it offers the possibility of combining cultural and bathing holidays. There are enough sights. For example, there is the Archaeological Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Enetikón Froúrion Rocca a Mara Castle and the famous Knossos Palace. By the way, the city is also known for its picturesque old town and beautiful architecture. There are also a variety of restaurants, shops and a lively nightlife. The city's own airport provides ideal connections. It is about 3 kilometers from the airport.

Kokinicani

Kokkini Chani is located just 10 kilometers east of the international airport. Ideal location to get to the beach as soon as possible after landing. The city is relatively young, so visitors should not expect a mature old core or historic monuments. In recent decades, substantial investment has been made in expanding infrastructure and trade. Since Kokkini Chani is a relatively small resort, there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from. The relatively short beach is well maintained and equipped with many facilities. It is about 10 kilometers from the airport.

geranium

The coastal city of Gerani is located in the northwest of Crete, a few kilometers from Chania. The manageable settlement offers guests a long, relatively wide sandy beach. Here you can sunbathe, swim and practice various water sports. While there are a few large comfortable hotel complexes, Gerani also has enough restaurants and bars, but few in number. There are more nightlife options in the neighboring town of Platanias, about 2 kilometers away. It can be reached by bus, taxi or on foot along the beach. It is about 154 kilometers away from the airport.

Sissi

The sleepy fishing village of Sisi lies between the lively towns of Maria and Agios Nikolaos. The port with its colorful fishing boats sits in a natural bay with pebble and rocky beaches. Pleasant cafés and typical bistros give the place a special charm. The distance from the airport is about 27 kilometers.

Retina / Bali

The island's third largest city is particularly attractive with its oriental Venetian feel. The romantic old city center with its minarets and mosques, its narrow streets lined with lively shops and pretty cafés, connects to the picturesque port. The approximately 12 km long sandy beach begins at the end of the Rethymnon harbor pier. The distance from the airport is about 52 kilometers.

Agios Nicholas/Eloda

Two lively port cities on the slopes of Mirabello Bay. Although Agios Nikolaos is one of the oldest tourist attractions on the island, the town still retains its typical charm. The port city of Elounda is about 13 kilometers north of Agios Nikolaos. It is about 40 kilometers away from the airport.

yerapetra

The southernmost city in Europe is located in the Libyan Sea in the southeast of the island. The old town of Ierapetra, with its beautiful promenade and numerous shopping and entertainment opportunities, invites you to walk and relax. The distance from the airport is about 100 kilometers.

georgeupolis

The fishing village is located between Chania (about 40 km) and Rethymno (about 22 km), on one of the most beautiful beaches of Crete. At the heart of this quiet place is the town square with its pretty harbor and charming taverns. The long, gently sloping sandy beach faces an irresistible panorama of Mount Ida, perfect for families with children. The nearby nature reserve is ideal for long walks. The distance from the airport is about 95 kilometers.

Quesonisos / Anisaras / Maria / Stalis

East of Heraklion is Crete's most famous resort area, with its beautiful beaches and beautiful bays, a wide range of sports and a charming hinterland for interesting excursions. In the lively resorts of Chersonissos, Anissaras, Malia and Stalis, there are many shopping and entertainment options, as well as a lively nightlife. The distance from the airport is about 16 - 27 kilometers.
