Wonder Lady - The First
In the first century, Boudicca, Queen of the Iceni, united the Celtic tribes and led them in the fight against the Romans who had invaded Britain. Her husband, the king, negotiated a truce with the Empire, but after her husband's death, the Romans stole her kingdom, flogged Quen Boudicca, and forced her to watch her daughters being raped. He raised an army and wanted to destroy it, but events conspired against him and the Roman forces destroyed his army. She escaped with her daughters Comorra and Tasca, and they decided to commit suicide rather than let themselves be captured by the Romans and paraded through the streets of Rome as captives. Boudicca and Comorra took their own lives, but Tasca was prevented from doing so. Adark, a prince of the Trinovantes (another Celtic tribe that fought with Boudicca) approached Tasca and told her that he loved her and asked her to flee with him to the north where they could hide from the Romans. She was also in love with Adark, so she agreed. They lived long lives in the far north of Britain and their children were the foundation of the Scottish nobility. Back in Iceni country, when Boudicca's subjects fell to Roman rule, they took the body of their fallen queen and buried her with great ceremony befitting a leading heroine of the Isle of Brittany, in ground consecrated by Druidic magic.
In the late Victorian era, an archaeologist named Nathan Felch was digging in Norfolk County cemeteries when he found the remains of a high-ranking Celtic woman. The person must have been a member of the first or second century Celtic nobility, but there was no way to determine exactly who it could have been. one of Dr Felch's assistants joked that it would be extraordinary if these remains were those of Queen Boudicca, a historic find that would appeal to English society. Felch laughed and said that they would never know exactly whose remains they found and that it is unknown where the Iceni hid the burial of their beloved queen who led the fight against the Roman occupation. But it turned out that he had found the tomb of the most famous woman of his time. The unidentified remains were flown to London and displayed in a quiet corner of the British Museum.
Many years later, Lorna McGraw was working at the British Museum one night when the lights went out and the sirens began to wail. The young woman had studied ancient history at the University of Edinburgh and then came to London to work at the museum. But with the outbreak of war, he felt he had to do more. She considered volunteering for the Yeomanry Women's First Aid Corps and going abroad to tend to the wounded in the trenches. As it was dark in the museum, he went to a window and opened the blackout curtain. He looked out and saw the beams of searchlights rising into the sky, looking for the airships that had come to bomb London. There was lightning and a red glow to the south, and he imagined Hun bombers attacking the docks along the Thames. But even though Lorna was the only living person in the museum, she wasn't alone. Rising invisibly from the dust and bones of an exhibit beside her was the spirit of a warrior queen slain many centuries ago. Boudicca looked up at the sky above her island and felt angry that her homeland was once again being attacked by foreign invaders. He wished he could do something, but he was just a ghost. Only flesh and blood could act, and his flesh crumbled to dust long ago. He thought that not a drop of his blood was left on this good island. She believed her two daughters had died like her, leaving no descendants to continue her lineage. But then Lorna McGraw stepped aside to look up at the sky, struggling to see the German balloons as they were caught in the floodlights. And as she did, she reached out and placed her hand on the box that said, "Celtic Nobles - 1st or 2nd Century AD - Discovered by Dr. Nathan Felch." At that moment, the spirit of the warrior queen suddenly looked at the red-haired girl. Boudicca gasped as she looked deeply into the girl's essence. On Lorna's body he saw the imprint of Roman, Norse, Anglo-Saxon... and Celtic blood! Your Celtic blood! This girl was a kind of descendant of him!
The warrior queen's spirit form approached Lorna McGraw's body and was barely visible. As it glowed in the air inches from her face, he spoke. "Descendant, someone must fight to defend this island. No one can attack Britain without feeling the Iceni Queen's fair hand!" Lorna took a step back. "Who…or what…are you?" Why are you attacking me?" When she answered, the spirit touched the young woman and entered her body. "I am Boudicca, warrior queen of the Iceni tribe. Druid priestess who tried to defeat the Roman invaders many years ago. I couldn't stop the Romans, but I will use her mortality to create a warrior to fight these new invaders. I can do this because my blood runs through your veins. One of my daughters survived me and you are part of her offspring. Join me in battle!” When the spirit merged with Lorna's body, the woman felt a strong tingling in her body and felt dizzy. Her blue dress, panties, and suede shimmered and changed into a blue cloth version of a combat suit. She was wearing a long-sleeved, form-fitting top and a skirt that covered her legs just below the knees. The shoes that covered her legs turned into knee-high boots. A thought crossed her mind that she didn't want anyone to know who she was. she was wearing such outrageous clothes. Immediately a blue fabric mask covered her head. upper half of her face. The newly merged person hurried to the back entrance of the museum and looked up at the steps of the bomber airships, which were caught in the beam of the floodlights. Lorna thought: Well, what do you expect from us...
Suddenly, the figure jumped up and flew straight into the chaos in the sky. "Deadly druid magic is powerful, especially after spending so many years in the sacred lands of the Iceni." As she flew toward the plane, Lorna thought she must have grabbed some kind of weapon. But the air shimmered in her hands and suddenly he held a glowing spear in his right hand, and a glowing, translucent shield of the same magical composition appeared on his left arm. In addition to the airships, he saw a biplane with British markings descend on the Hun, only to be met by machine gun units mounted on the side of the aircraft. The plane released smoke and began to turn towards the ground. "We must save him!" I thought. "No. We are here to destroy that monster in the sky.” The heroine flew towards the intruder and saw the men pointing their guns at her in astonishment. An officer with a megaphone shouted in broken English. "Stay back, Miss Wonder, we are at war and we will shoot everyone, even Miss , if you come close!” Lorna felt the spirit that merged with her go wild. It flew straight at the officer, spear high above his head. The machine guns cracked and the lead flew over them. part of her body, and the bullets ricocheted. But not all were repelled. One bullet grazed her temple, another pierced her right shoulder. Each of her legs was wounded and Lorna felt pain shoot through her body. But in her frenzy, Boudicca ignored the wounds. He grabbed the gun mount on the side of the zeppelin and drove the spear through the German officer's heart. The men of the machine gun crew panicked at the woman's attack and two ran through the hatch into the balloon. One tried to lunge at Lorna and grab her, but she caught him with her shield and knocked him over the railing, throwing him into the darkness and screaming out of sight. Boudicca drew her spear from the dead officer's body and the weapon flashed and changed into a great sword. He turned and walked around the side of the zeppelin. Stepping inside, she turned to the struts and beams that made up the airship's structure. In the skin, he also cut open the huge pockets of gas that contained the hydrogen that kept the craft aloft. Combustible gas gushed and something hissed from the hole in the skin. He went down the gangway, cutting through the ship's hull, frame and gas pockets. German soldiers approached her. but in the hydrogen-rich air they dared not fire their weapons. They tried to attack her, but the magic weapon, which could easily pierce through aluminum beams, quickly caught up with them. As she advanced, the warrior left a trail of blood in her wake.
The airship was mortally wounded and began to descend lower and lower in the London sky. When Lorna/Boudicca plunged the sword into the skin again, it opened and saw another biplane heading straight for the airship. The cannons rattled and she saw the glowing red balls coming towards the zeppelin. Lorna realized with horror what was about to happen. She had read that these defensive combatants were armed with tracers in their guns that burned when fired. Even as she thought about it, the bullet entered the hydrogen-filled airship and the area burst into flames. He felt the flames licking his body as he leapt through the opening in the skin to fly downwards. He landed in Trafalgar Square and the people who were there pointed in amazement at the woman standing there with a mystic weapon and a shining shield. Then they all turned as the burning zeppelin's remains crashed to the ground nearby. In the chaos, no one saw how the warrior suddenly transformed into a mortal woman as Boudicca's spirit left Lorna. Someone found her minutes later and called for help from the poor, bloody young woman who lay there in a torn dress. The next day, newspapers ran headlines that a mystical heroine had been seen hovering over London. Some Germans who parachuted from the downed airship and survived told stories about an attacker whom the newspapers dubbed Senhora Maravilha. At Charing Cross Hospital, staff were delighted with the recovery of the young woman, who had been found with serious injuries earlier that night. There were no reports of machine gun fire, but it appears she was hit by gunfire, wounding her several times and also burning her right arm and the back of her head. It was over a week before he was able to leave the hospital. He walked back to the British Museum and stopped in front of the window. Lorna concentrated and thought: Boudicca, you're here again, do you realize you almost killed me? A ghostly voice whispered to the young woman. "Warriors fight. Warriors die. It is her destiny. You are my descendant and it is your duty." Lorna was shocked by that statement. Boudicca would sacrifice everything. The young woman wanted to help the war effort, but there was a limit. She didn't want to die. And if he merged with the Queen again, he knew he would. So that afternoon , he boarded a train and returned to Edinburgh, he vowed never to set foot in London again.
Wonder Lady - The Second
Later in the war, Andrea Bancroft traveled south from Glasgow to London on another train with her father, General Stanhope Bancroft. As her family belonged to the northern social elite, the general had been put in charge of defense and training institutions in Scotland. When he was invited to travel to London for a meeting with the war council, her daughter asked if she could accompany him so they could go shopping in the capital. She met her father after the date and told him about the things she had bought on her shopping trip. But as her taxi pulled forward, the sirens began to wail. The General watched the streets darken as the lights went out. The taxi driver grumbled, "Damn it! Those damned bastards haven't been here long. We thought they'd given up. Left. The brakes squealed and the taxi veered off the curb and slammed into a building. "You saw that! Bloodylunatic didn't look where he was going and almost ran into us. Andrea felt her father's pulse. He was knocked unconscious by the impact of the taxi, his head striking the divider separating the vehicle's front and rear seats. She answered. "I...I think he's fine. He's been hit in the head and is out. The driver cursed. "Damn it! Ohh... excuse my language miss. Can you stay with him while I look for an ambulance? She nodded and the driver got out. In the building they fell into, the British Museum exhibits were deserted and silent. Except for a showcase. The warrior queen's spirit hovered over her dry bones. Boudicca cursed Lorna McGraw for giving up her job as a British advocate. How could he run away from this task just to survive? Warriors were born and bred to die. But then the queen realized that there would still be no defender of the country if she had pushed the girl too far if she died that night. Unless... the Queen stretched her senses and tried to sense the world outside the museum walls. Suddenly, he sensed the presence of other samples of her blood nearby. His spirit broke through the walls of the structure to find the two people in the hut. He saw that they both had Iceni blood, their blood, running through their veins. But the man was wounded, and besides, he felt he could not fuse his Druidic magic into the form of a man child. But the young woman would. The Queen became visible in the air in front of Andrea Bancroft, and the girl gasped at the sight. "What... a ghost? Why are you here, ghost?" "I am Boudicca, warrior queen of the Iceni tribe. Druid priestess who tried to defeat the Roman invaders many years ago. I could not stop the Romans, but I will use your mortality to create a warrior to fight these new invaders. I can do this, because my blood runs in your veins. One of my daughters survived me and you are her offspring. Join me in battle!” Andrea gasped as the spirit form flowed into her body.
As she got out of the taxi, the brunette felt her body tingle and the clothes she was wearing glowed and changed. Barely covered by purple pants, she knew she didn't need to be weighed down by heavy clothing to fight effectively. Andrea remembered what she had read in the newspapers of the woman who had appeared in London a year before, the so-called Wonder Woman. Now she would be the hero, and part of the purple fabric covered part of her face. Abelt appeared at her waist and the buckle design formed a “W”. She rose into the air and flew to attack the zeppelins. But as she climbed higher and higher, she noticed something that startled him. "Aircraft are flying over the city, but they are not attacking. They are not dropping bombs. Why should they..." replied the ghost of Boudicca. "Sky monsters are not the real threat today! As Roman generals would, this move is a feint designed to distract the defense from the real attack." Flying high in the sky, Andrea/Boudicca looked out over the City of London and wondered what the Huns were really up to. I feel the invaders are using magic, ancient magic, among us. They intended to attack the seat of power on this island. Andrea could feel something too. He pointed to Buckingham Palace. "They're down there! You can feel it too! The royal family is the target of the attack!"
Below on the floor, Count Haran von Furstenburg, who had spent his life studying ancient Germanic magic, led a group of thirty animated corpses through the palace corridors. His strength easily reached the target location as the air strike pushed back the defenses. His undead servants, untouched by the guards' bullets here in the palace, easily killed the men who were there to protect the royal family. And that was VonFustenberg's goal. If he could capture and sacrifice her, the mystical effects would drive British forces out of the trenches and break the stalemate of the Great War. Germany would crush the weakened French armies and take Europe. The Emperor would take his place as the new Holy Roman Emperor of the civilized world! The mage and his ugly entourage moved and ran into a room where people were sitting. The women gasped and screamed as they saw the horrors. The mage gestured and spoke in cryptic phrases, and some members of the crowd were pleased. Most of the others fled. Some brave companions of the king and queen tried to attack the invaders and were badly beaten. The prisoners were then taken back to a large reception room, where they were tied to chairs. The Earl had chosen this date, 26 May 1917, with great care, as it was the fiftieth birthday of His Royal Highness Victoria Mary, Queen Consort of His Royal Highness King George V. To mark the special occasion, their six children, including the ailing Prince John the Younger, gathered to celebrate. Only the simultaneous deaths of all eight would allow the spell he had constructed to eliminate British forces from the war. And now it would!
But a window in the hall was shattered when a female figure fell and landed. Lady Wonder raised her mystical sword, then slashed through the undead warriors. Several were knocked down, but they got to her faster than she could fight and grabbed her hard. The mage approached and with a wave of his hand released and absorbed the energy of his sword. "So, a defense attorney? Britain also has an individual who can use magic? But you can't stand up to the might of the German Empire!" Her arms waved and she spoke incantations that summoned chains to hold her in place. "Eight royals will die to destroy England's power, so I will rape and kill you, girl, and steal all your power for my own use." !"
Andrea/Boudicca struggled to free himself from his bonds. But she was held in place by the handcuffs, which felt like they were glued to her skin. The sorcerer ordered eight of his impious followers to rise, one behind each of the eight members of the royal family who were about to die. He walked over to Wonder Woman and placed his hand on her throat. "You can't stop me, miss. You can watch each one of these people die before your eyes, knowing you witnessed the end of your British Empire and your replacement in this world. Germany will rule! Soldiers! Lock your fingers around victims' throats, prepare to execute them!" But as he said that, Andrea/Boudicca grabbed her arms and lifted her, twisting and turning the chains that bound them until they were about to climb over Furstenburg's head. He squeezed and pulled at the links of the chains in the flesh of the magician's throat. She reached up and tried to remove the chains from around his neck. But she pulled hard. If the magician could have said a single sentence, the chains would have dissolved. But he couldn't speak, he couldn't even breathe. He held the chains tight until the mage dropped dead. So Boudicca concentrated and managed to reform her magic sword. She slashed and slashed at the chains that held her in place, and as soon as she did, the broken shards escaped her. The undead soldiers still had their hands at the royal family's throats, waiting for the before. Ehl to continue with the executions. Wonder Lady reached out and used her sword to decapitate each creature in turn. As he did so, the lifeless hands relaxed and withdrew from their victim. Boudicca noted with pride that members of the royal family, even the youngest, did not scream or panic at her release. Even now, Britain's royal blood was a gritty liquid. They hugged as soon as they were handed over. His Royal Highness King George V then turned to the young woman she had rescued and placed his hand on her shoulder. “Thanks, young lady. I owe you a great debt, as does England. Lady Wonder nodded and spoke. "I am here to defend Britain and fight the invaders who deign to pollute the soil of this beautiful island. Part of me is the spirit of the Druid priestess who was Queen Boudicca of the Iceni. I will return if need be again." spirit left Wonder Woman's body and the figure glowed and was replaced by the tired, disheveled figure of Andrea Bancroft. Exhausted by the ordeal, Andrea fainted and fell to the floor.
He revived minutes later when a damp cloth was pressed to his forehead. He opened his eyes and tried to focus on where he was and what had happened. She gasped when she suddenly realized that she was lying on Queen Mary's lap, who was holding her while Princess Mary wiped Andrea's forehead with the cloth. Next to her was His Royal Highness George V, King of the United Kingdom, and their children were nearby. Andrea gasped, “Your… Majesties! I am really sorry!" He struggled and tried to get up. But the king reached down and placed a hand on her shoulder, preventing her from moving. "Please young lady, relax. You don't need to feel ashamed of breaking protocol. My life and the lives of my entire family were saved thanks to your actions and our gratitude knows no bounds. Please tell us who you are." ." ".you and how did it happen?"
"Well, Your Majesty, I am Andrea Rhianna Bancroft, daughter of General Stanhope Bancroft. My father has come to London for a conference and I have accompanied him to visit the lodges in the British United States." Museum. It appears that Queen Boudicca's remains form one of the exhibits there, and her spirit haunts the structure. Some power he has allows him to merge with a young woman who is his descendant, and that's what happened to me. Oh my father! I've been hurt! The driver asked for help and I took care of him while the spirit entered my body.” At that moment, several servants and security guards entered the room where the royal family was being held. The king addressed one of them. "Reginald. A soldier, General Stanhope Bancroft, was injured in a car accident near the British Museum. Send people to find out if they have taken care of you. We would like to know your condition. Unless he is seriously injured, arrange for let him be brought here." The security guard nodded, bowed, and left. The king turned to Andrea. "We'll make sure your dad is okay. Well, please continue." She nodded. The events of this night were a little overwhelming now that she was replaying them in her mind. only to divert our defenses from another threat. Somehow I sensed that the real danger was here and it arrived just in time." The King nodded. I will be happy to reward you for your service to England and this family. Your name goes..." Andrea panicked. "Your Highness, no! I would be so embarrassed if people found out what I did. Keep kinda crazy.” His Majesty turned to his family, "Well, I think we can keep his secret as we owe him a lot. But Andrea, you really have to tell your dad. She nodded. Princess Mary spoke. “Andrea, some time ago the newspapers reported about a person who showed powers like the ones you have here. She flew into the sky over London and shot down a German zeppelin. It was you? Andrea shook her head. “No, Your Majesty. It must have been when the ghost merged with another one of her descendants."
The security guard reentered the room, accompanied by General Bancroft. The officer was relieved to see his daughter but confused by the bodies of the German attackers on the ground as the royal family stood around Andrea. He lowered his head, "Ahhh. Your Majesties, what is happening? I am very confused by your summons and would like you to tell me how I can be of service to the Crown at this time." The king rose and walked beside the general. "I must thank you for bringing your daughter to London. Our lives and the lives of everyone in our family were saved thanks to this young woman's efforts. This family owes her family a great debt." The General was taken aback by such a statement and was stunned. Andrea got up and went to her father. She told him what happened to her after the taxi crashed. Some people would have doubted such a story, but the General always respected his daughter for having a very sensible head on her shoulders. He hugged her and whispered, "I'm so glad you're doing well. And proud to have done such an important service to England.” In the days that followed, the general and his daughter were guests of the royal family at the palace. Her Majesty decided to grant Andrea her request for secrecy, but publicly announced that General Stanhope Bancroft had done the country a great service. and the Bancroft family would be rewarded with an officer named Lord Bancroft of Annam. No one took notice of the official proclamation: the appointment was made on the basis of the Bancroft family's service to the Crown.
The ghost of the warrior queen has fallen asleep again in the British Museum. No intruder has set foot on the island of Great Britain to disturb it. Andrea, later known as Lady Bancroft, became a close friend and confidant of Mary, the Princess Royal. When the King died in the mid-1930s, Andrea helped to comfort her friend and stood by her when Mary's brother gave up the throne to be with the divorced woman he loved. In the early 1960s, when Lady Bancroft died, all members of the royal family attended her funeral.
Wonder Lady - The Third
But Bodicca's dream was cut short in 1940 when the Germans returned to the skies of Britain. As German bombers descended on London, the warrior queen activated her senses in search of a trace of her blood. Maureen MacArdle, a nurse at Charing Cross Hospital, was watching the attack when she felt the ghost approach her. The spirit told him, as well as the others, what was happening and how the land needed a hero to fight the invaders. The young blonde could hardly believe what she was hearing, but then the spirit entered her body and they merged into one warrior to defend the island from the Iceni. Her nurse's uniform swayed and shifted, and a white cloth mask covered the upper part of her face like half a helmet. The white-clad warrior leapt and flew into the clouds, chasing the German bombers flying over London. He flew towards one of them and the mystical sword and shield appeared in his hand and on his arm. The shield grew to protect his entire body as a Junkers JU-88 gunner turned his gun to fire a machine gun at her. The bullets ricocheted and she flew into the tail of the plane. She slashed with her sword, slicing through the planes and the helm. The spirit within her asked, "Why are we attacking here? Shouldn't we be clipping that bad bird's wings?" Maureen thought that damaging the tail control surfaces might cause the plane to crash, but she saw that it was too difficult. He turned backstage, knowing what to do. "No, Boudicca. These attackers' weakest point is their engines!" Wonder Lady lunged for the wing, and the sword in her hand turned into a spear, which she thrust through the hood and engine. Oil and fuel squirted and she backed away as the mixture hit the hot exhaust pipe and caught fire. The propeller stalled and the plane began to slow and turn. Maureen wondered if the plane could still fly with one of its two engines off. "We have to get the other engine!" Over the top of the plane, she saw the upper turret swivel and point at her. She raised her shield just in time as the guns spit her out. Approaching the firing point, he blocked the fire with his shield and thrust his spear into the turret. to silence it. He then climbed onto the wing and used his spear to disable the other engine. The plane flipped and began a fatal crash to the ground. Wonder Lady flew away looking for another attacker.
Boudicca's attention was drawn to a smaller plane flying close by. "Another bad bird we'll crush from the sky..." But Maureen spoke. "No, Your Majesty! That's a Royal Air Force Spitfire! Fight for England and defend the skies against attackers!" As the fighter flew, Wonder Lady saw the pilot raise his hand to shake hands with the woman who was fighting beside them. "Warriors rising again! What a strange conflict this island's future has brought!" They descended and attacked another of the bombers. The shots aimed at the heroine were stopped by the shield, as the former queen was more interested in preventing damage to the body she inhabited. If this young woman was killed or seriously injured, who knew when she would find another son to relate to? And the queen realized she was her daughter's daughter. A distant part of her family. That night they shot down five bombers from the invading waves over London. And the next morning the newspapers announced the return of Great Britain's incredible defender -Britain, the Wonder Lady In her home on the outskirts of London, Lady Andrea Bancroft read the bills and smiled She hoped this young woman would work with the spirit of the long-dead queen and help England in her time of extreme danger. In Edinburgh, Lorna McGraw Hunter read her newspaper and freaked out Did this young woman know the terrible danger she was putting herself in?
The London Blitz was a difficult time for the city's residents. Almost every night the Germans came to destroy the capital of Great Britain. And when they did, Maureen would merge with the Iceni Queen and rise to fight for the land they loved. The nurse had very little sleep most nights and her work at the hospital was affected. Finally, one afternoon, Maureen was summoned to the office of Lady Adelaide Stoughton, Director of Nursing at Charing Cross Hospital. The old lady spoke to her sternly, advising her that night activities should not continue to the point where she could not satisfactorily perform her duties as a nurse. Lady Stoughton proceeded to tell Maureen that she would be relieved of her position and forced to leave the hospital just as the air raid sirens began to sound, signaling another Luftwaffe attack. The director was about to tell Maureen to accompany her to the bomb shelter when he witnessed Maureen's transformation into the white-clad heroine of the English skies. Maureen turned to the lady and spoke. "Lady Stoughton, please go to your harbor. I cannot join you as Queen Boudicca and I need each other in Heaven.” The next day he returned to the Headmaster's office, where he gave his superior details of what he had done during the night. Lady Stoughton looked at her in astonishment. "If you do this for us, you'll have all the time you need. I'll schedule you to work every other day, and you can at least get some sleep during my free time. If there's a day you want to go to work, come and help. If at any time... you must do your duty in England, you are free to resign your post here. Happy hunting, Maureen. "
Maureen had a boyfriend she took very seriously who served in the Royal Navy on an Atlantic cruise ship. In her letters to Tom Graveshelmin, she made no mention of her association with the late Iceni Queen or her fight against the Germans in the skies over London. She found it very strange for her to put such facts in a letter. So Tom came to London with a driver's license and was able to spend a few days with her. Normally this would never have happened, but in times of war, two people in love know full well that their time together could be their last. The two ended up in bed one night, making love madly and contemplating the death and destruction that surrounded them. She had her arms around Tom and his body pressed against hers made her feel wonderful. But she still struggled to find the words to tell him about her adventures as Wonder Lady. Every time she started to speak, what she was about to say sounded wrong. Lying next to him in his arms, she was finally able to tell him what she had done. He looked at her in surprise, then wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. "I will take care of you, Maureen, and I will pray that nothing happens to you. But I know you took care of me in the line of duty. My love, I love you and this brings us closer, to share one more feeling." She slept with him and thanked God that stormy skies over southern England kept the Germans out of the sky for one night.
As the months passed, Maureen spent much more time in the skies over Britain. In mid-1941, German attacks began to subside as the Axis powers turned their attention eastwards to the great crusade against Russia. The London flashes became less frequent, and Maureen's fusion with the Queen became less frequent. Lady Stoughton once asked him why he didn't go out to attack the enemy in France. Maureen responded, "I feel like the magic that empowers me is grounded in UK soil. If I left England I wouldn't take Wonder Woman's powers with me." In 1943, Tom's cruiser sank while escorting a supply convoy to Murmansk. He was one of the few survivors. When he was brought back to England to recover from his serious injuries, Lady Stoughton approached government officials and asked that the seaman to be transferred to Charing Cross Hospital. much in her double life as Wonder Lady. The sailor was her betrothed and she deserved the chance to be with her young man while he recovered. Maureen had served England with great courage and deserved this small request. All the members of the committee were astonished with the news and some said they thought it possible... But the discussion ended quickly when the leader of the committee, Lady Andrea Bancroft, rose to her feet. and. “This young woman risked her life many times for her country. There is no doubt that England as a whole, and Charing Cross Hospital in particular, must do everything possible to help her.” After the meeting, Lady Bancroft approached Lady Stoughton with a request. “I will be visiting CharingCross Hospital in the coming days. I would love to meet the young lady. A few days later, Lady Bancroft and Maureen spent an afternoon talking about working with Queen Boudicca to fight for the defense of England. Both women shared thoughts and feelings about the things they've done and opened up to reveal what they couldn't express to anyone else. At the end of the meeting, Maureen bowed and thanked the lady for her time. Andrea smiled. “You and I share an experience that unites us more than our sisters. If you weren't here, I wonder if the queen would have asked me to serve again. I wouldn't feel comfortable flying through the air fighting the Huns "at my age". . Boudicca's work is more appropriate for a young woman. If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask."
In 1944, the horror returned. First, the Luftwaffe returned for several months at the beginning of the year, trying to put an end to the channel invasion that both sides knew was coming. A few days after the Allies established their foothold in Europe, a new terror stalked Londoners. Day and night, small jet-powered rockets thundered across the channel in the sky over England, raining down destruction. The V-1 Doodlebugs posed a new threat to the land Boudicca loved, and many times Maureen would transform into Wonder Lady and fly through the air in an attempt to intercept Death from above. Sometimes he arrived just in time to distract the guns. , but often she only got there when a steaming crater and the dead awaited her. About a hundred V-1 bombs were sent to London daily, and although RAF fighters and anti-aircraft fire stopped some of them, more than half hit their targets. This was more than a hero could stop with all his strength. In the air, Wonder Lady saw the steaming craters dotting the city. Maureen read the list of dead in the newspapers. At the hospital he saw people being brought in with terrible injuries. She got up and cried, begging Boudicca to find a way to do more to end all this suffering. And when she became Mistress Wonder, Maureen could feel the misery felt by the long-dead Queen. But it got worse. In the fall of 1944, V-1 bombs were supplemented by V-2 rockets, the first truly supersonic ballistic missiles. They traveled much faster and were nearly impossible to stop. No matter how hard Wonder Lady tried, she could never stop one of these weapons of terror from hitting her target. Only ground forces in Europe advancing on Germany were able to stop the attacks as they overran and destroyed the launch sites.
Finally, Maureen was relieved when the attacks became less frequent. Germany's resources were not unlimited and the war was coming to an end. On a fine spring day in 1945, Maureen sat with Lady Bancroft at a table in the courtyard of Charing Cross Hospital. "I have a letter from Tom. He's been promoted to chief of artillery on the battleship HMS Duke of York. The ship sails to the Pacific to join the British Navy contingent to help the Americans defeat the Japanese. I have no way out, then I won't be able to see him... Andrea smiled and took Maureen's hand. "Done, kid. You just have to wait a little longer. We can see that the war is ending. Soon we will have peace again and her husband will come home. You will have no more battles in heaven. But Maureen suddenly felt Boudicca's spirit enter her and she transformed into the character of Wonder Lady. "I feel a threat... greater than ever... we must stop them!" He wondered what could make the queen so frightened. What awaited them? Lady Bancroft also heard the Queen's voice and was terrified.
In Germany, in a secret underground facility in Salzwedel - halfway between Berlin and Bremen - the Grup commander, Colonel Koesheim, was ordered to destroy all laboratory materials if Allied forces approached. None of the secrets of German weapons would fall into enemy hands. But the SS officer took whatever experimental weapons he had and combined them into one last terrorist weapon to repel Britain. Enough components were available for one rocket, a V-4 twice the size of the V-2. Finally, a prototype of a new kind of experimental bomb was produced that harnessed the power of the atom itself to cause incredible destruction. Ordered to assemble and prepare the components. His mind was filled with hate. He knew that Germany could not survive for long. But London would precede him into oblivion! He pressed the button and launched the missile towards England.
Maureen could feel the panic in Boudicca's head as they climbed to the top. “I can feel fate coming our way. This weapon will somehow wreak more havoc than any other in the past. It has the potential to destroy the entire city! Mauren gasped at the thought and they turned southeast towards the sky. But the rocket came very quickly. The heroine flew high, higher than ever before, until Maureen was frozen to the bone and breathless. You saw the rocket. It ended up falling on the city they had tried so hard to protect in recent years. They flew and approached the rocket. He formed the mystic sword in his hand and cut the scabbard, the fins, to damage it. But it was very resistant. He pushed against him and tried to throw him off the track. Nothing seemed to work. Maureen looked at the city she loved and was determined. The sword in her hand flashed and turned into a spear. Lady Wonder walked to the top of the rocket, holding the spear in both hands. She whispered, "Goodbye, Tom..." and with a tear in her eye, she thrust the spear through the scabbard into the warhead. The crude nuclear device was not critical, but the surrounding explosives detonated, destroying the warhead and missile and shooting shrapnel, killing the woman flying beside it. Her body fell to the ground and, despite its poor condition, was identified as the remains of Maureen MacArdle. All of London gathered for the funeral of the young woman who sacrificed herself to save so many lives. The king himself spoke at the service, deeply moved to think that a young woman working with the old queen had saved her life a second time. Tom Graveshelm flew in from the Pacific Theater to attend his fiancée's funeral. Also present was Celeste MacArdle, Maureen's younger sister. She listened to Winston Churchill talk about her sister's bravery and sacrifice and just felt that her dear sister had been sent to her death by that accursed spirit.
Wonder Lady - The Room
Twenty-five years have passed and, as she always did, Celeste MacArdle Gowan has traveled from Glasgow to London to commemorate the anniversary of her sister's death. She walked over to the statue of the heroine that had been erected in Trafalgar Square and shed a tear as she looked at it. He had been accompanied on this journey by his daughter Shona. The youngest was born some time after the end of the war and never knew her famous relative, but knew a lot about her from the articles she read and bad memories of her mother. Celeste instilled in her daughter that she felt the long-dead Celtic spirit had forced Maureen to give her own life for glory, when there was likely a way to resolve the issue without Maureen having to die. But on that sunny day in the late spring of 1969, Shona wondered if that was really the case. The young adult reached a point where she questioned what her mother was telling her. Times were such that youth and rebelliousness went hand in hand. Her political feelings leaned towards the anti-nuclear movement, which was very strong in Britain. Many young people marched and protested the ban on nuclear weapons in England and across the continent. They took it very seriously that without the Lady Wonder London would have been the first casualty of the nuclear age in 1945 and suffered the same horrors as Hiroshima or Nagasaki. The anti-nuclear movement took Lady Wonder seriously as a champion and gave her life to stop the nuclear attack. Some groups called themselves Followers of Wonder and pledged to do their part to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Shona was repeatedly asked to speak at these rallies, but as she attended them, she was too embarrassed to stand up and be a speaker.
As the dead heroine's two closest relatives stood at the memorial, Shona wondered how her aunt felt in the face of the threat from London. Did he know the magnitude of what was to come? If she... Shona suddenly felt a strange sensation come over her. Her body shook and he staggered a step. She heard a voice in her head and her yellow mini skirt and top floated to form a pantsuit and some of the fabric moved to her forehead to form a mask. On her belt, the buckle turned and formed a capital "W". "Young man, descended from my lineage, am Boudicca, Queen-Priestess of the Iceni. Shona stammered a reply. "The Old Queen? Oh my God... What threat? There is no war now, there are no invaders... Unless... Oh no... My Queen... Is it the Russians?" Did they fire their rockets? in England? Did the Cold War suddenly go very wrong?" No. This threat is not in the sky. It is coming from underground, an invasion from the depths of the earth!” The mighty figure leaped into the air and flew westwards swiftly. Celeste MacArdle Gowan looked at the departing heroine with a fear that gripped her heart. That damned Boudicca had taken her sister from her. Would she lose her daughter now?
Shona/Boudicca rose into the western air. Shona had flown before, but being a passenger on a plane for a school trip to Paris was nothing like that! He looked down at the ground below, at the clouds that covered the sky, and felt the air caress her body. It was exciting! Eventually, his thoughts returned to the Queen's words. "Ahhh... Your Highness? What do you mean by an underground invasion? Where are we going?" The answering voice shook in his head. "Young man, I can feel when danger threatens this country and when ordinary defenders cannot cope with what lies ahead. I now know that strange creatures, not quite human, are emerging from their underworld to attack the people of Great Britain. Around Cornwall these things come out of the ground to attack."
Shona gasped. "Corwall? But this will take so long..." "No, we're almost there." "What!? How fast are we flying?" "Very, very quickly."
Soon the Wonder Lady was approaching the town of Alcombe. On a sunny day, you can look north across the sea and catch a glimpse of Ireland. But this was an overcast day and looking north all you could see was the rough sea. People walked by and saw a line of four military trucks parked in the center of the city. Soldiers gathered around an officer, but they looked as confused as the townsfolk. Shona/Boudicca landed next to the officer and he shot her a startled look. She held out her hand. "Sir, I am... Mistress Wonder. Sensing the danger to the land, the spirit of the late Queen Boudicca brought me... here.” She paid for her testimony. It was still hard to accept that she was Wonder Woman now and that the "I" was really "us." The older one took it better than she thought and nodded before answering. "Mrs. Wonderful? I remember the stories. Welcome back. Maybe We Need She went to investigate, reported encountering a strange civilization, and then her comm equipment went silent. The next thing we know, strange creatures are invading the surface. Most are armed with batons and appear to have thick enough skin that bullets won't bother them. We couldn't find her... The reports from the camp are so confusing. Word has spread and people are scared. Most of the roads are clogged with people trying to get out and the falling clouds make us useless as reconnaissance planes or fighter planes against the invaders. I'm trying to bring heavy weapons units to…” Shona interrupted. "Senior, was there any effort made to communicate with these beings? Perhaps we can reason with them and return them to their caves without armed conflict. If we can get them to understand that their contact with the world is incidental, we can certainly come to an agreement. I agree that it's a "peaceful solution." The officer looked at Wonder Lady for a moment and then sighed. "Young man, these are violent creatures and have surfaced to do as much damage as we allow. Until we hit them hard and fast, they will continue to threaten the area. If you don't want to fight, let them: "Tell us where these things are and we'll do our job."
Mistress Wonder told her that she would explore the area and find out what the creatures were doing and see if a non-violent solution could be found. As he took off, he could see in his eyes that he wasn't expecting any help from this young, pacifist version of the British defender. And Shona heard a ghostly voice jump into her head. “How can you think of peace in times of war? These creatures are invading the earth and they want to harm these good people! We will find them, forge a mystical weapon, and destroy them!” Shona sighed. "Your Majesty, times are changing. We want to work on conflict resolution, not just counterattack. People feel it..." They heard the screams of a young girl and flew through the air towards the screams. In a mountainous area, a bicycle was lying on the ground by the side of a dirt road. A young woman was lying on the ground struggling with one of the strange creatures. Mistress Wonder landed, grabbed the thing by the scruff of the neck, and tossed it aside. "You...you it is good? What did he...' Shona gasped when she saw that the young woman was bleeding from the side of her face and her forearm was black and blue. Worse, her blouse was torn and her clothing had been removed below the waist. "Oh...my god..." The heroine turned and looked to where she had thrown the creature. She saw him get up and walk towards her. It was human-sized and mostly humanoid, but shaggy brown fur covered it from its clawed feet to its oddly misshapen head. He looked strong, and those big charcoal eyes were menacing. Shona/Boudicca tipped her head back and said softly, "Ah...Miss, you better get out of here." she could pedal. Shona thought she should argue with that thing. "Ah... Mr. Furry? Now there's no reason for you to attack people, we just want to help him. He's probably confused by his surroundings and if I help him find his way home..." But the creature suddenly flinched. . forward and slammed his hand on the side of Wonder Lady's head, stunning her. He caught her arm in his powerful hand and pulled her to him. Another hand of hers reached down and yanked off her skirt. Stunned, Shona was beginning to realize that the thing was after her. She saw his cock slam behind her and saw his other cock… no, wait, that was… oh shit, his erect, hairy, brown cock sticking out. I wanted to rape her! This is what he had planned for the other woman! Shona panicked and tried to break free, but he held her tightly. "Beat him! Concentrate and form a weapon to destroy this abomination! Do something!" But Shona's mind was so confused by the blow to the head and the dire situation that she couldn't concentrate enough to form the weapon. He felt the power in his body and thought of releasing the thing. Suddenly, a mystical energy erupted. It didn't turn into a weapon, but instead shot out of her hand and hit the monster's chest like a cone of pink light. It flew back and she was free.
The heroine jumped into the air and looked at the creature lying on the side of the road. He was already on his feet and looking at her in the air. Then he moved away, looking for easier prey. From the air, Wonder Lady noticed other brown spots moving across the field and found that many of the things were in the area. Hearing another scream, he advanced to another path, where a woman was lying on the ground struggling with a creature that was clawing at her clothing. Shona formed a spear, but as it flew toward the fight, she swung the weapon around and drove the blunt end of the shaft into the back of the creature's head. She fell and the threatened victims disappeared. "Girl! What are you doing?" "Boudicca, I don't want to kill anyone... or anything, if there's another way!" "Broken bones of Druid lords! How could you have my blood in your veins and refuse to fight, you damned coward!" That argument in her head was cut off. Shona brought the tip of her spear's shaft against the head of the creature in front of her again, and it didn't move. I hoped I managed to shut it down. But another one came up behind her and tugged at her shirt. She tore and swayed her breasts as she backed away from the second attack and knocked this monster down. She saw another one approaching her and trying to reach her, and she wondered if she could face three of them.Suddenly, a truck came around the corner and stopped. Their headlights were on, illuminating the fight brightly. The creatures dropped them and fled, and the driver poked his head out the window. "Miss, you get out of trouble! Come on, I'm going to get us out of here!" But suddenly half a dozen monsters came from a different direction and approached the sides of the truck. They crashed, pulled him until the tires broke, got into the cab and pulled the man out. They pummeled him until Wonder Lady made a move to grab the man and fly him into the air where the pair were safe from the threat. He flew a short distance and saw a Land Rover with British Army insignia. The soldier driving whistled softly. "Ho honey, what happened to you?" Shine blushed when he realized that she had lost her top and half of her skirt. He put his free arm over her breasts to try to cover them. "Creatures believe in love... and war. This man is seriously injured, can you get him out of here?" The soldier nodded, took off his tunic and offered it to her. She put it on and thanked him. “We try to get people out. Our weapons don't hurt the freaks much and we keep getting pushed back. If they surround our vehicles, they will destroy them.” Their conversation ended when half a dozen creatures came down the path towards them. These had clubs and looked even more dangerous. Wonder Lady put the injured truck driver in the Land Rover and told the soldier to go away. She said she would stop them. He looked at her and gaped, "Are you going to... WHAT!?" But Shonas suddenly thought about how the creatures acted when the truck arrived. He reached into the Land Rover and flicked the headlight switch. "Switch to high beams, quick!" When the guy did, the group of monsters backed away and fell back. Shona smiled. "Soldier, go back to that guy and tell your officers. They can't stand bright light! We can use this against them!" He nodded "Crikey, you're right missy!"
As the driver sped down the road, Shona was thrown into the air again. “Boudica, this is your magic. Would she be strong enough to burn through those clouds?” The queen understood what her offspring had planned. "So you're not a coward, just a careful planner who wants to discover the enemy's weaknesses before acting. Good idea!" Mistress Wonder flew and was surrounded by a sphere of light and heat as the druidic energy was activated within her. The cloud cover began to dissipate and the sun appeared, illuminating the area. The creatures stopped chasing their prey and began to stopping and hiding where they could to avoid the sunlight. Wonder Lady flew back to Alcombe and found the Commander she had spoken with earlier. "Judging by your appearance, young lady, you would have a disturbing encounter with those scoundrels." She put her hand on the borrowed robe, giving her a certain degree of modesty. If one of those overloaded buttons were to burst, she would be very embarrassed! "Senior, we can defeat these creatures with light. Bright lights push them back. By nightfall, we need to place vehicles and lighthouses here. We can use them to push things back to where they came from, and once they're deep down where they came from, we can blow up the hallways so they never show up again. information moved up the chain of command. More forces were sent into the area with the team to push the creatures back, and soon the area was secured and the invasion stopped. After the monsters were sent back to the underground realm they came from, the tunnels were destroyed to prevent her from returning. Boudicca maintained the merger with Shona long enough for the heroine to return to London. There Shona told her mother how heroin had saved the day. But Celeste MacArdle Gowan insisted that the damn ghost was just trying to kill Shona.
Wonder Woman - The Others
It was a wonderful day when autumn arrived in the British Isles and at a street table in a quaint little cafe in Mayfair. Shona Gowan Taggart had a pleasant reunion with her four daughters. Her husband Kendrew Taggart was in London working at a fair for entrepreneurs who work with mining equipment and Shona and their youngest daughter traveled with him by train to enjoy the capital during the event. She loved living in Glasgow, but a trip to London was always pleasant. Her eldest daughter, Rhianna, was a British Army officer who was on leave after her service in Iraq. Joanne was a designer who had a small shop on Fleet Street. Dorothy had a recurring role on the BBC TV show Doctor Who and has appeared in several films. And the youngest, just 19 years old, was called Maira, she went to college but still didn't know what to do with her life. It had been a while since the four girls had been together and they were really enjoying it. Suddenly, the five heard a voice in their heads. "Broken bones of Druid lords! There is danger... extreme danger! Last time it was almost so bad that Maureen died trying to stop it...
Shona shook her head and shuddered, Boudicca's voice screaming in her head. What could make the druid queen panic? Shona gasped as she watched the transformation from mortal woman to superhero. But he saw it happen to his four daughters at the same time. Not one, but four versions of the Mystic Maiden were now on the table. Rhianna shook off her disorientation as quickly as possible and sat up in a blue blouse and red skirt. Beneath her long blonde hair, a red mask covered her upper face. The army officer tried to concentrate on calming down, wondering what horrors had triggered the Lady Wonder's reappearance. The silver-haired Joanne was also masked. His face covering and all of his clothes were tan and tan. The design had gotten out of her head and he was thinking about the changes in the details of the outfit. She gasped as every thought in her head seemed to instantly turn to her clothes. He thought about a wider belt and boots that were calf-length instead of short. The changes came immediately. Dora had red hair, at least this year, and her mask and costume were silver and gray. She thought of the clothes worn by the heroines in some of the productions she worked on and combined the best qualities of each to look as beautiful and heroic as possible. Maira wore a blue pantsuit to complement her blonde hair, and at the thought of it, her tank top and shorts began to shrink more and more. She was approaching what looked like a shorter bikini top with a thong when her mother exploded. "Maira, stop it!" The young woman sighed and the attire changed back to a more modest blue sports bra and shorts. Her face had a simple domino mask next to her eyes. The patio table was next to a stone vase. Maira reached out and grabbed it. He laughed when a piece of stone broke in her hands as he pulled it out. Rhianna scolded her. "Mar, we have to find out what's going on! We weren't given these powers to destroy the cafe!"
All five could hear the ghostly voice murmuring in their head. “Deaths... So many dead. I can't stop this I've got to stop this I can't sit back and watch this happen. A person would be helpless. how about two Or more? we can do something “I can't watch everyone die.” Those people! But I'm trapped here, my dry bones keep me trapped in this place. If I join one of my descendants, I may still have to face the death that sacrificed their lives. A million strangers or a daughter. Can you live with both horrors, even for someone dead as long as I am?" Dora looked at her mother. "What's going on here? What should we do?" Shine conveyed helplessly, shrugging. "I only bumped into her once. At that time, she spoke to me with confidence and knew exactly what we had to do and where the danger was. He brought us there. But now she looks scared..." Rhianna interrupted. "Ghost" or not, she looks shocked and unable to think straight. Maybe she's too torn when she joined the four of us at once. I'll have to try to do whatever I can. needed without your help. I don't even know where the crisis is... I can call... Damn!" suit he was carrying Shona took a phone out of his pocket and handed it to her daughter.
Rhianna dialed a number and asked for a specific extension. "Captain Argylehier. Who's calling?" Rhianna spoke quickly. "Tony, I need to know where the big crisis is! I know you work 911 and you need to know what's going on today.” He replied. "Captain Taggart? There is no way for us to share this information with you. You're on vacation and that's not even a secure phone line… Rhianna knew Tony wouldn't have been on the phone that long if he didn't have an appointment. him briefly last year. "Remember what I told you about my mother and that slump in the '60s, Tony? Well, now I've become Wonder Woman and it's my turn to be a hero. But I need to know where I'm going to be needed! She heard his sigh , and then the phone was dead for a minute. He finally decided to speak. "Okay Rea. A large group of terrorists took over the Iranian embassy. They are armed with automatic weapons and will shoot anyone they see nearby. We removed all people from the area and surrounded it. Fans say they caught people at the embassy and many hostages were taken in the nearby streets. Any response from the police or military will result in the death of those holding them." Rhianna took this and asked. "That's bad, but I know there must be something worse. Her friend gave more information. she outside the building and questioned him. He laughed at our threats and said that all of London would be punished for what British forces were doing in the Middle East. They told the prisoners they could kill him, but in an hour all of London will be under a mushroom cloud." It was Rhianna's turn to sigh, "Oh my God. Nuclear terrorism. Worst possible nightmare. Thanks Toni. I think I'm going there to stop them. Wish her luck." She called and hung up and broke the news to her mother and sisters.
Joanne groaned. “Terrorists with a nuclear bomb? Oh shit, there's no way we can get involved! Let the bobbys or the military kill them too. "She never forgave Mom for being tricked back then. We can't be heroes. That's how they kill you!" Maira turned to her older sister and placed her hand on Joanne's shoulder, "Joey, you were always the one who believed the Grammys about what happened to Great Aunt Maureen. But didn't you hear what the Queen said? She merged her essence with us, so we all know she can't lie or hide anything. She's as devastated by what happened as Grandma is. Part of the reason she can't talk to us right now is because she's scared to death of us. lose. He's not trying to kill us, Joey. The crisis forces them to. Ask us to try to save London... even if it costs our lives." Joanne's head dropped for a few seconds and she sighed. Then she looked up and into her sisters' eyes. "Okay, let's do this." Shona looked at her daughters and remembered the day she became Mistress Wonder. She told them about thoughts, senses and the essence of the magic used by Queen Boudicca and what to do to form the magical weapons and shield. Or at least they should have, but their daughters' amalgamation with the queen was flawed. Shona had to tell them what they needed to know to be the heroines they were made into. Within minutes they knew what to do and how to do it. But those words would make no sense to anyone else.Only a woman who shared the essence of the Ice Spirit could understand what could be done.
At the Iranian embassy, Ambassador Tarak sat bound and gagged behind his desk in his office. Beside the table was a coffin-sized metal box containing the nuclear weapon. The leader of the terrorists, Arim Bal-Akar, looked at him with disdain. “You are part of the puppet regime that Westerners brought into our country to subjugate our people. But the Brotherhood of Allah is fighting to destroy the cursed Judeo-Christian alliance. Earlier this year, we almost destroyed a city in the United States when a nuclear device we stole was about to detonate. But one of their damned undercover heroines foiled the plans of Arakim Daraba and his faithful unit. We used our resources to obtain a second warhead, and since American defenses were on high alert, we smuggled the device into England. It's only fair that we bring him here to the den of our brothers who crawled on their bellies to serve our enemies. Daraba's bomb was stopped at the last minute by a bloody blow Ma'am, this bomb will not be thwarted, three separate triggers, there's a timer that activates it in less than an hour, there's also a red button bot on the box, and any of the my men can activate it by pressing it. Finally, a radio signal sent from a device in my pocket can cause it to go off if something is interfering with others. Daraba's men set the timer on their bomb and fled. But my men and I are not going anywhere. We'll stay here and die in the blast, martyrs to the cause of Allah!"
The four sisters flew in and approached the building from above. Occasional shots were fired from windows intended to prevent authorities or the media from approaching the building. The terrorists did not announce demands and did not offer negotiations. They wanted to die when they attacked. A sniper was on the roof, but he was looking down, scanning the streets for movement. He would have looked up and fired his gun if he'd heard Achopper trying to move someone onto the roof. But she didn't hear the four superheroes flying silently like birds. Rhianna tapped her feet very softly on the ceiling right behind the man. She reached out to catch it, but one of her sisters fell too far and there was a crash from the ceiling. The man tried to turn and react to the sound, but Rhianna put her arm around his neck. Another arm of hers wrapped around his head and twisted. He grabbed the man's neck with a loud snap, then threw him into the ceiling. The other three ladies gasped when they first saw a viciously murdered man. The real desperation in her task was beginning to set in. Dora had appeared in a few low-budget action movies and thought she was used to seeing deadly violence. But he saw that it was very different when the stunt double didn't get up and leave after filming ended. Joanne and Maira also looked at the dead man and tried to accept their situation. It was a natural reaction for even the bravest people when faced with violent death for the first time. And from a roof structure, a second terrorist came and pointed his AK-47 at them. Three women were helpless targets, but not Rhianna. She had been one of the first women to join England's elite anti-terrorist unit, the Special Strike Group. In Iraq, they fought the worst battles against the al-Qida resistance. He knew he shouldn't let his guard down at any point. She saw the man and, as she raised her gun, jumped between him and her sisters. As he fired, she formed a wide shield to protect herself and deflect the bullets raining down on her. A mystical spear formed in her other hand and he hurled it, hitting the gunslinger in the chest. By the time her finger released the gun's trigger, the spear in her heart had already killed him. Rhianna grounded her sisters. "This is your first lesson. Don't waste your time on a dead enemy. Watch out for the next attack." They agreed. asked Dorothy. "Wow. I think we have to go to the embassy and find the bomb. Should we finish? Rhianna thought long and hard about the question that was on her mind. A separation would make sense. a lot of sense It can help you find the nuclear bomb faster. But these were her sisters. He had just seen that they weren't trained warriors. He knew they would probably be killed if they went alone. "No…let's stay together."
Rhianna walked to the roof access door to the stairs. Before opening, she spoke. "Don't hesitate. React. If you see anything, grab them before they get you. These men want to kill you. Kill us. Kill these hostages. Kill everyone in London. So to save all these people, you must kill those monsters first. If you want to regret this, save it for later. Okay?" Dora and Mairano nodded, but Joanne tilted her head. I feel something... something very important... and dangerous. There are several levels above the stairs and on the right." Her three sisters turned to look at Joanne curiously. But as they concentrated, they also felt their sixth sense alerting them that something important was in the right place. Dora said. "Mama he used to say that somehow Boudicca could see where she was the great danger and knew where to go to stop it. Is this something we're getting from her silently? Rhianna nodded. 'Could be. Let's check the location first and see.' She opened the door and walked down the stairs, her sisters following. As they made their way carefully, they passed a landing with a door. Three had gone through the door when she appeared suddenly open the door and a man came out. Terrorist. He saw her and raised his gun to fire. But Maira, who was last in line, grabbed the man's arm and pulled him along. She caught him by surprise and threw him against the door wall. A sword appeared in her other hand and plunged into her chest. When she pulled it out, he was dead. Her three older sisters were shocked that the young girl had done this even faster than any of them would react. Maira looked at her, then into her body, she said, "Wow," and then she bent over and threw up.
At the bottom of the stairs and along a corridor in the ambassador's office, ArimBal-Akar still stood beside the bound diplomat and the nuclear device. Suddenly the phone rang. The terrorist leader took it and spoke. Whoever you are, we are not willing to negotiate. Stay back or the hostages will be dropped dead from the roof and rot in the street. The voice on the phone spoke. "Sir, wait! I'm with the IBC. We want to offer you the opportunity to speak on television. If we drive our van in front of the embassy, you can be interviewed live on our network and let the world know what you think about this message. Please, no, no, sit back and let the world wonder what's going on. Arim thought about it. The authorities and the media still considered his group a venal gang of thugs. They offered him incentives in exchange for his release of the hostages. But little did they know that he and all his men planned to die with the City of London. He looked at the timer and saw that he had twenty minutes. He was fascinated by the opportunity to take his message to the world. You could see it his face, the determined face of a righteous man. He spoke and at the end of the interview the explosion was recorded on the screen. It would be a great way to present the event. "I'll be in front of the building in five minutes. Drive your truck down the street. A cameraman and a person interviewing me. No longer." Arim told ten of his men to stay and guard the bomb, left the office and went down the front stairs while the Wonder Ladies went down the back stairs to the second level.
Her sixth sense drew her to the office as they walked down a hallway. Rhianna was on top, ready for anything. But behind them arose a terrorist movement. They only listened a moment before he fired. They raised their shields, but Dorothy was a little too slow, and a hail of gunfire seared her left leg and arm. Joanne, protected by her shield, walked towards the man and was soon close enough to look at him. She attacked him with her mystical sword. She tried to remember any swordplay techniques she might have seen in the past, but her heart was pounding like a hammer and she was breathing heavily. It wasn't until Maira placed a hand on Joanne's shoulder that the woman stopped attacking the bloody mess in front of her. Joey tried to calm down and catch his breath. Rhianna was at Dora's side, lowering the curtain on a nearby window. She ripped it open and wrapped strips over the wounds to stop the loss of blood. "We need to get him to a hospital." Dorothy shook her head. "No, you're here to stop this bomb. All three could be needed for that. I'm right here. If you make it, you can come back and take care of me. If not…he won, it doesn't matter."
The three sisters didn't like the idea, but Dora was right. They left her there and walked down the hall to the room she was calling. Rhianna stopped, her hand on the knob. "The bomb is here. We can feel them. But some of them can too. So let's go fast and attack anyone who tries to stop us. Keep your shield in front of you and keep moving. Watch out for the hostages. Ready? Joanne and Maira They nodded. Rhianna threw the spear she was holding and impaled one of the archers. Immediately another spear appeared in her hand. But as the trio entered the room, armed men stood on either side and the heroines were attacked from several directions. Joanne screamed as a bullet it pierced her shoulder. Maira threw her spear and another terrorist fell. The ladies reached the side of the bomb and were shocked to see the Ambassador bound and gagged behind the table where Arim had left him. Rhianna formed a sword in her hand. hand and cut the bomb casing. But it was made of a very durable alloy that could withstand attacks from her. At one end was the timing device. It is embedded in a molded clear polymeric acrylic resin block that is stronger than steel. The bright screen showed only twelve minutes to go. She cut it off, but barely cut a part. Suddenly, Maira screamed. "Laugh, watch out!" One of the terrorists had thrown a hand grenade across the room. The ladies crouched behind the bomb box as the grenade exploded. "We have to stop this timer!" Rhianna got to her feet and deflected the shots with her shield as she continued to cut through the casing covering the timing device. But she couldn't take it. Joanne murmured, "I think this might work. God, I hope so..." Joey stood up and the shield on his arm disappeared. He formed a spear and held it in both hands. He raised it over his head and with all his strength he put him on top of the timer unit. He pierced the case and sank into the stopwatch. The unit was dead, but as he did so, he was fired upon by gunmen. The bullets pierced his body and he died before she realized she had done it. Maira watched in horror as her sister's body fell to the ground beside her. Rhianna gasped, "Oh, Joey, no..." She raised her shield and stepped out from behind the bomb. she flew quickly towards three of the men and the bullets ricocheted off her. It was on them and they slashed, they slashed. Other gunmen fired and the bullets missed her. Two of those who shot at her were killed by spears thrown by Maira. Rhianna saw three remaining men and charged them in. One went down with a spear in his chest and a second hit him. He swung his shield and went through the wall. The last one hit her gun chamber. The AK-47 was blocked and he glared at Rhianna. She took a deep breath and asked. "Do you give up?" But he raised the gun and hit her in the face with it. Stunned, she staggered back. He stepped behind her and put a forearm around her neck. He hissed at Maira, "Now you give up or I snap her neck like a twig!" Maira thought for a moment, then pulled her shirt off and ripped it off. Her breasts were showing and she yelled, "Okay, I give up. You can have me!" The man stopped and looked at the topless young woman. His jaw dropped. As he did, Rhianna's mind cleared. He formed a mystical sword in his hand and plunged it into the stomach of the man who held it. He fell dead to the ground Rhianna looked at her little sister and asked, "What the hell was that?" Maira gave a mischievous smile. "Well, I thought you could remove it if it distracted you." Rhianna frowned. "What if I was gay?" The younger girl snorted. "Agay Arab terrorist? I don't think so." The couple walked over to where their sister's body lay and looked at it for a minute. Tears welled in Maira's eyes as she knelt down and placed her hand on Joanne's shoulder. Meanwhile, Rhianna turned away. to untie the ambassador, who had managed to survive the battle.
But as soon as she took the gag out of his mouth, he stuttered. "The bomb... there are three ways to activate it. You must stop Arim Bal-Akar, the head of the terrorists! It has a remote control box with a button that can detonate it. The timer was a hand button only the red one on top of the box is the second one but ArimBal-Akar has the third one with him Intends to die here and go all over London with him Walked down to the front of the building where he was talking to the TV people he wanted to be on TV next alive when the bomb goes off!" Rhianna's mind raced with the new information. "Maira, stay here and guard the red button. Don't let anyone near you. I'm behind Arim Bal-Akar. She ran out of the room, down the stairs to the main entrance of the embassy. He stopped in the doorway and looked through the window. window. There was a cameraman in the street outside, lined up with some people. One of them, the reporter, showed a microphone to a dark-haired man who preached how the evils of the western world would lead to the downfall of the city of London. The punishment divine would destroy the arrogance of the West. She knew it must be Arim Bal-Akar and saw that he had one hand on his jacket and waving the other to emphasize the scream. That hand in his pocket had to be on the trigger. approached him, she would let him go. But then he stopped and looked at his wrist and glanced at his watch. His face darkened and she thought he was waiting for something that hadn't happened. He knew the timer had been thwarted. Now, if he just pressed that button in your pocket, everyone nearby would be dead. She held her breath, waiting for the end of the world, but let it out when she saw him pull the remote out of his pocket and hold it over her head. He yelled, "And now the Brotherhood of Allah will attack..." "Too theatrical, you imbecile!" he muttered as he launched himself through the window at the terrorist. His mystical sword slashed through the air, slicing the man's hand at the wrist. The deadly device fell to the floor, held by fingers that could no longer push the button because they were dead. As blood gushed from his severed wrist, Arim Bal-Akar dove in and grabbed the unit with his other hand. That hand never reached the remote before the sword landed on his back, impaling him and pinning his dying body to the sidewalk. Breathing lightly, Wonder Lady bent down to pick up the remote, holding it carefully in her hand. As soon as that happened, a huge crowd of police and military rushed towards the embassy. Rhianna saw a policeman she recognized and reached over and removed his mask. "Captain O'Roarke, the bomb is in the ambassador's office on the second floor, guarded by...another hero. Take the disposal units from there and tell them not to touch the little red button at the top." Rhianna hoped Maira wasn't topless yet. But he didn't let the boy get away with it.
Now that it was all over, the three ladies spent the first of many days mourning their sister's death. As the days passed, they tried to get over the loss. England showed her gratitude with a grand solemn burial for the dead and a grand ceremony for the living. They received the highest British honors. Dora was given the chance to adapt her role on The Doctor Who Show into her own series. But he turned it down to accept some of the many movie roles he was offered. Critics were surprised to admit that they thought the young woman was a reasonably good actress and that her small role in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit earned her rave reviews. She worked to select the best roles she was offered and received an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of a nurse who falls in love with a dying patient during the Korean War. Maira dedicated herself to modeling and was seen everywhere. Newspapers found it scandalous how she was spotted in her swim trunks on the beaches of the Riviera. Then a tabloid published a series of sharp, if grainy, photos of her frolicking topless on a beach in Spain with a young man whose family ran a huge chain of department stores. She married him...briefly. And he was the first of many husbands she went through. Rhianna continued her beloved military career with a promotion to Major. He had to adapt to the changes in her life. He was invited to appear at many events to show off his medals and allow the army hierarchy to blend in with a true hero. She was asked (and she was sure that if she turned it down, it would become an order) to pose for advertisements and appear in military recruiting ads. Photographers were interested in swimsuit shots on the beach, but she insisted that if she wanted to promote the military, she would only do so in uniform or fatigues. This made her face known across the country and she, like her sisters, was constantly pressured to sign autographs.
A few weeks after the embassy battle, the Major thought the crowd at the British Museum might have thinned out a bit, so she donned an overcoat to hide her uniform and a pair of glasses to try and keep the public at bay. He entered the museum and went to the room where the remains of Queen Boudicca of the Iceni were prominently displayed. He pulled away and focused his thoughts. "Your Majesty, are you here? Have you recovered from what happened to you?" The others in the room had no idea that a conversation was taking place. Only Rhianna and the long-dead Queen heard. "Yes, my son, I am here and I have recovered from my disability. It seems that even I have limitations. I tried very hard to respond." I was helpless when I was most needed. It was fortunate that the four of you were so capable. Lo... I feel sorry for Joanne. I suffer as much as you do. I was connected to her when she chose to sacrifice her life, and I felt the icy hand of death to hold her. Rhianna, I wanted to know when you would come talk to me. I know what's on your mind. Rhianna jumped. "What? How could you…” “Although I was helpless, I was still fused with you and your sisters. I felt your thoughts at the end of the battle and knew you would come here to punish me." "I just wanted to tell you that you made a mistake in the past, which you can avoid in the future, although I hope there won't be a crisis so serious that the Wonder Woman form is necessary. In the past, Your Highness, when danger swept across Britain, you found a young woman who was one of her descendants and offered her great powers and abilities to transform her into a warrior. But the gifts you give don't make someone a warrior. You must learn to be one. When I was touched by you, I was already a trained soldier. Your gifts have made me a superior fighter, capable of much more than my sisters." "Yes, daughter, you are right. I was a fool not to see this. The young women I stayed with were poorly chosen. I never thought of looking for the most qualified person. They fought well, but Maureen fought I think as I fought her over the years she became an excellent warrior and I was very proud of her. I loved her very much and was heartbroken when she died. But I see that without you, your three sisters would never have been able to stop the terrorists. Thanks."
Rhianna paused for a few minutes before answering. "Queen Boudicca, I want you to know that I am ready to serve when the time calls for it. The next time you need to bring your power to a mortal, please call on me." The Queen was very proud of the offspring, whom she called her daughter. "Bravo! I expect to spend a lot of time sleeping in this place, there's no need. But if you call me, we'll work together to keep Britain and its people safe from harm!"
---< Author's Note >---
This is a story of costumed heroines with a little twist here and there. Young women are suddenly forced to fight for their country and its people. A story that goes from the First World War to the present day. A story of thrills, danger, sex (hmmm... not much sex - sorry, it didn't fit most of the time) and death. Each young person who becomes a different WonderLady responds to the task a little differently.
The plot started with the comic book cover manipulations I do for Wizard's Lair, some of which you can see here. They started out as a 1940 WONDER COMICS cover by Nedor-Better with Brad Spencer, Wonderman on the cover. Anyway, I took Brad off the cover and left him with his sidekick, Carol, whose job was similar to that of many sidekicks in comic book history. She was there to get into trouble and she needed saving. Added a mask for Carol to the cover manips and tweaked the logo to announce that she is Wonder Woman! Pretty girls in captivity and/or in mortal danger looked perfect. But what bothered me was that these two covers of WONDER LADY have two heroines that look nothing alike. I came up with a reason for that and created a costumed superhero who is a different person with a lot of young people participating. With this hook, I developed the story of various conflicts over a period of more than 90 years.
